As you are probably aware, the eyes of the football world will be on America, Canada and Mexico throughout June and July and we are giving you the opportunity to enjoy the summer extravaganza of the beautiful game and raise money for SoLYD at the same time, courtesy of our ‘Sweepstake with a Difference’!
We have put together a game which will allow you to enjoy following the tournament, not just the games involving England and Scotland, all for £5!
How it works:
Every entry will be allocated a team in 64 matches of the tournament, 32 group games and the 32 knockout matches.
So, for example, in the first match of the tournament, your entries fixture list will show whether you have been allocated Mexico or South Africa – however that side gets on, you’ll get the same points, goals scored and goals conceded.
As an example, the entry below has Mexico, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Brazil and Haiti in the first four matches.
If the scores were as shown then you’d start with a 2-1 win and 3 points, losing 1-3 to Canada doesn’t give you any further points but you’ve now “scored” three goals and “conceded” four.
A 2-0 win for Brazil moves you on to six points, and you’ve now scored five goals and conceded four. Finally, losing to Scotland 1-2 means you still have six points, but now it’s six goals scored and six conceded.
During the knockout stages extra time, and penalties, where relevant, will count as the final score so there are no draws from these 32 matches.
You do not have to fill in your scores but there is room on the entry print out should you wish to
A league table is formed starting with the most points, then the best goal difference, followed by goals scored. If places are still tied then the relevant prize(s) would be shared accordingly.
A prize structure will be announced once the number of entries is known, and there will be updates throughout the tournament so that you can see where you are in the table.
Entries for this game cost £5, half of which will go to the prize pot and half (minus fees) will go to SoLYD, so by playing you will not only have a chance of winning a cash prize but you will be supporting our wonderful academy at the same time!
