About Talking Hatters
Talking Hatters is a friendly and inclusive space where you can talk openly about mental health, football, and everyday life. Whether you’re feeling stressed, anxious, lonely, or just in need of a chat, you’ll find a supportive community here.
The initiative has been championed by club legends and well-known figures such as Mick Harford and former goalkeeper David James, helping to “tackle the silence” around mental health in football.
Hosted by the Luton Town Supporters’ Trust, this initiative goes beyond football by:
🧡 Raising awareness of mental health within the supporter community
🧡 Providing regular, informal opportunities for conversation and peer support
🧡 Encouraging open, stigma-free discussions about mental health
🧡 Helping build understanding and signposting access to professional support
Join Us
We hold weekly Zoom sessions – Join us every Sunday (except when Luton Town play on a Sunday) from 7–8pm on Zoom by visiting: tinyurl.com/Talking-Hatters
There’s no need to be a Trust member —this is open to all, and aims to support anyone experiencing challenges such as stress, anxiety, depression, or loneliness—something most of us face at some point.
It’s your safe, accessible space to share, connect, and of course, chat about Luton Town and life in general.
You don’t have to go through things alone—it’s okay to not feel okay. Let’s talk about it, Hatters.
Everyone is welcome in this relaxed and respectful online space.
You can also meet us before every Luton Town home match at the LTST Gazebo on the Kenilworth Apron. Please drop in for a chat in person.
” It’s been great to just chat through a bad week with fellow supporters – sometimes it’s just good to get it off your chest and then talk football!”
“Having attended a few Sunday nights it is clear that Talking Hatters is offering something really worthwhile. In short it’s an excellent idea that needs supporting”
“Talking Hatters feels like a little piece of ‘home’ to me, much like how I feel when I visit Kenilworth Road. Sorry if that sounds too sentimental, but I want to get across why Talking Hatters is working for me in a way another support group might not. That football connection is very important.”
“I love it. We don’t just talking about football we can talk about all things. It is easily accessible and the facilitator gets our views across.”
“I have taken part in the zoom sessions a few times. Mark is always welcoming and makes everyone feel comfortable to take part. The current format is exactly right in my opinion. Mark has been pioneering the need of recognising the importance of good mental health. I hope to join in more sessions in the future. Mark is a great example to us all and is a shining light to us at Luton Town.”
