Luton Town Supporters’ Trust echoes the statement made by the Football Club regarding the singing of offensive and inappropriate chants at matches.
The return of supporters to stadiums is something none of us could wait for, and we are all enjoying being able to watch this exciting team live in person after being denied the opportunity for so long, however certain chants heard this season have been very disappointing.
We would like Kenilworth Road to be a place where everyone can feel welcome regardless of their race, religion or sexuality, a place where discrimination of any kind can not and will not be tolerated.
Furthermore, we want the Kenny, and Power Court moving forward, to be a place where families can attend, to ensure the future generation of Luton fans can see their heroes in person and fall in love with the Hatters like we all did. Some of the mindless chants heard this season go against that wish.
A lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes to ensure that Kenilworth Road is a welcoming and enjoyable place to visit for everyone, and that the matchday experience is one we all cherish. We are all proud of the awards our Club receives in this regard.
Our wonderfully diverse squad stand together before each game to portray the message that discrimination of any kind is not acceptable, both at matches and in society as a whole. As supporters it is our duty to do our bit to make sure the message extends to the terraces too.
We encourage all who visit Kenilworth Road to continue to create the atmosphere that the players thrive on, but we reiterate that there is no place for offensive or inappropriate chanting of any kind.
