Ahead of the new season getting underway, we are sad to announce that LTST media officer Kevin Harper has resigned from his role and stepped down from the Trust board.
He leaves us with a great legacy. Kevin was initially involved in the formation of the Trust back in 2003 and then after stepping away to build his career, he returned to being involved with LTST in 2015, originally being co-opted onto the board before being fully elected in 2016.
In his second spell with the Trust, Kevin has fulfilled the role of media officer, elevating the profile of the Trust throughout that time. He created the LTST Podcast which is enjoyed by thousands of Luton fans each week, and represented the Trust all over the world, as far and wide as America and even Australia.
Kevin oversaw our media strategy throughout the busiest times in our history, including the planning phase of Power Court, our involvement in the Government Fan-led Review and that wonderful season in the Premier League.
Kevin gave this reflection on his time as the Trust media officer.
‘It has been an absolute honour to have been the Trust media officer for the past 11 years. Being elected to the board once was a privilege and something I never took for granted but to be elected again by our members for such a large period was incredibly humbling. I always said that when I felt I could no longer make a difference I would step aside. That time has now arrived.
I must thank my first chairman Tony Murray and current chair Paul Stephens for the belief both had in me. They encouraged my ideas for the role and left me to get on with representing all of our members in the best way I could. I am proud of everything I have done as Trust media officer and hope that I have represented everyone who voted for me to be elected as well as I could. I wish LTST every success for the future as I return to witnessing their progress as a regular member.’
Trust chair Paul Stephens commented “Kevin has done a fantastic job and dedicated a huge amount of time in creating and promoting communications for the Trust, especially the popular podcast series, which he built from scratch. I would like to thank Kevin for his support and although no longer a board member I am sure we will continue to debate all things Luton Town at many grounds up and down the country”.
Kev has indicated that he and James will continue the podcast, which will be rebranded ahead of the current season and continue to provide members and Luton supporters with regular content as before.
Having built relationships with local and national journalists and always being on hand to help as well as delivering the majority of our communications for the last 11 years, Kevin leaves big shoes to fill. The Trust board is looking at new ways to approach the ever-expanding role of media, online and offline, and will be reaching out to members in the near future.
Everyone on the Trust board would like to thank Kevin for his hard work and dedication and look forward to seeing him on the terraces in the upcoming season.
