David Bage
My first game was at home to Gillingham in 1969 sitting on the shoulders of my uncle at the back of the Kenilworth Road terrace. I was hooked from then on and became a Bobbers season ticket holder with my dad shortly after.
In those days we couldn’t really afford to travel away often so mainly watched the reserves on alternate Saturdays which was also great seeing players like Andy King come through over the years. We gave up our season tickets when I went off to university in 1977 sadly.
My father passed away in 2016 but the memories taking him regularly to matches again from 2010 when my mother passed will always stay with me… despite it being the conference and we had to drive from the south coast.
So many ups and downs along the way, but most memorable were probably the 1988, 2009 and 2023 Wembley wins plus numerous comebacks at Kenilworth Road notably the last 15 minutes 3 goals v Carlisle in 1970 (Thanks Hatters Heritage I had to look that up!).
This year in the Prem has been wonderful despite the end result and I look forward to many more years on the Hatters roller-coaster now usually with my eldest daughter as company! Very Proud to have a plaque on Wembley Way near The Bobby Moore statue “The Bages were here with Luton Town FC Victorious 1988 2009” shame I can’t add 2023!
