Luton Town Supporters’ Trust Annual Presentation Evening

Jack Marriott was announced as the Luton Town Player of the Season on an evening that the striker won an outstanding five individual awards at the annual Luton Town Supporters’ Trust Presentation Evening at Venue 360 on Sunday.

The Town’s leading scorer this season also won the coveted Players’ Player of the Season award, the Internet Player of the Season award and the Away Player of the Season while he was a joint winner of the Young Player of the Season in a phenomenal night for the 21 year old.

Speaking in an interview after collecting his awards, Marriott was a proud man who was quick to praise those who voted for him. ‘It means a lot to me to be so highly thought of by the Luton Town fans and players. It pushes me on and makes me want to work even harder to get better’ he said.

The other winners of awards from the senior squad on the night were Pelly Ruddock-Mpanzu and Cameron McGeehan. Ruddock-Mpanzu landed the Ian Pearce Memorial Trophy while McGeehan was the Young Members’ Player of the Season and shared the Young Player of the Season award with Marriott.

The former Norwich midfielder was pleased to receive two awards as recognition for his hard work over the course of the season. He was quick to praise his manager who chose him as a joint winner of the Young Player of the Season alongside Marriott. He said ‘Nathan is really good for me, he’s a top manager who I get on well with. I look forward to working with him in the future’.

McGeehan was also very positive about the man of the night. Talking about Marriott he said ‘I’m delighted for Jack, he’s done really well this season and is very deserving of his awards.’

Luke Guttridge’s goal at Cambridge in September was voted as the Goal of the Season. The goal saw off competition from the likes of Danny Green, Cameron McGeehan and Olly Lee.

In Luke’s absence, club captain Scott Cuthbert received the award which was presented by the one and only Mick Harford.

It wasn’t just the senior squad who were recognised on the evening. There was also a special presentation to the wonderful Under 18 squad, sponsored by the Bobbers Travel Club.

The award was to commemorate their excellent achievements in winning the Football League Youth Alliance Cup and their league as well as their sparkling run in the FA Youth Cup which ended so cruelly at the quarter final stage.

The other award on the evening was the Luton Town Supporters’ Trust Outstanding Contribution Award, an award that we are very proud of and which was presented for the fifth time.

Les Miller, the Trust treasurer, was the recipient this year joining Keith Brooksbank, John Buttle, Simon Pitts and Nigel Martin on the roll of honour.

Les has been involved in the Supporters’ Trust since its inception in 2003 and also played a role in FLAG prior to that. He is probably best known though for his role with the Bobbers Travel Club alongside his wife, Sue.

He organises, and stewards, coaches to all first team fixtures and this year was also responsible for getting fans and indeed many of the players’ parents to the FA Youth Cup quarter final at Blackburn earlier in the season.

Trust chairman Tony Murray was delighted to present Les with the award ‘This is well deserved recognition for a man who has played an important role among the fans for many years’ he said.

Luton Town Chief Executive Gary Sweet was also glowing in his reference ‘Along with Sue, Les has a huge impact for the Football Club, his efforts particularly with the away travel are always much appreciated.’

Congratulations to Les and all the winners on the evening.
