Keech Hospice Care Collection

Prior to Luton’s 2-2 draw against Cheltenham on February 24, Keech Hospice Care’s army of bucket collectors took to Kenilworth Road Stadium to raise money for the charity.

They were joined by Trust committee members Helen Gatward, Colin Adamson and LTST Charities and Fundraising Co-ordinator June Adamson, who represented the Trust and Keech, outside the Main Entrance of the club on Maple Road.

The total amount raised was a phenomenal £1,781.09, which is a record bucket collection for the charity.

Banita Mistry, Regional Fundraiser for Luton & South Beds said, “Thank you so much for your help. Every penny raised makes a world of a difference to seriously ill adults, children and their families at a time in their lives they need the most”.

To put the amount raised into some kind of context, Banita also provided the following details.

£1,781.09 can pay towards any of the following:

  • 55 hours of nursing care in out in patient’s unit OR
  • 48 Music therapy to help a patient come to terms with a diagnosis
  • 30 Bereavement Care session to help with their loss
  • 11 Holistic therapy sessions to help alleviate pain

The bucket collection was just one of several fundraising activities that the supporters groups have undertaken. A breakdown of those and how much each raised are outlined below.

Helen Gatward’s Love Luton 10k run: £2,513.62

Loyal Luton Collection in memory of Bob Bates: £473.50

Smiley Sam: £453.50

Kenilworth Road seat challenge: £335.00

LTST Quiz Night: £297.60 (with further donations to follow)

Did you miss the collection? Well fear not as your Trust will be continuing to raise funds for Keech Hospice this month as local entertainer and Trust board member “Crazy” Colin Adamson jumps out of a plane to complete a skydive on March 23 in Salisbury.
