Scottish duo Kal Naismith and Allan Campbell were the big winners at the Luton Town Supporters’ Trust Presentation Evening at Venue 360 last Sunday.
The Versatile centre-half Naismith opened the night by picking up the Goal of the Season award, with it being announced that from now on the trophy will be named the ‘Mick Harford Trophy’ in honour of a true legend. That memorable strike against Bournemouth was a comfortable winner of the first award of the event.
The Scot then picked up a second gong later in the evening when he was voted as the Players’ Player of the Season by his teammates, before it was revealed that Trust members had voted Naismith as the LTFC Player of the Season.
While the defender landed the three main awards, his Scottish compatriot Campbell walked off with the most trophies, as he was the winner of four prizes over the course of the night.
The first one to go on his mantelpiece was the Bobbers Travel Away Player of the Season, before he added the Ian Pearce Memorial Trophy to his growing collection.
The midfielder then scooped two more awards across the second part of the night when he took home the new prize of Signing of the Season, and then collecting the Internet Player of the Season.
It wasn’t all about the Scots over the course of the evening though. The efforts of Elijah Adebayo was rewarded with him landing the Junior Supporters’ Player of the Season, while the LTFC coaching staff awarded Ed McJannett with the Young Player of the Season title.
That left one award to be given out and it is the one which we are most proud of. That is the Kevin Catlin Memorial Trophy, determined by the Trust in recognition of outstanding achievement, and the 2022 winner could only be Mark Crowther.
The impressive Luton supporter has cycled up and down the country to every Hatters away game this season to raise money for three wonderful charities – MIND, Keech Hospice and Prostate Cancer. He has done it after his own mental health battle and ridden in warm and cold weather, in sunshine and through driving rain, and never deviated from his challenge.
Even when Covid stopped him going to Hull City for the match there in March, Mark still cycled there when he recovered. He is a true inspiration to all of us and a very fitting winner of an award we hold so dear to our hearts.
